Writesonic pricing (2026): Starter vs Basic vs Growth — not the old $20 writer
Starter is $99 a month or $79 billed annually. You are buying AI-search visibility plus a capped article writer. The expensive mistake is paying GEO prices for a calendar ChatGPT already ships.

Writesonic
7.8/10Best for SEO content volume
SEO articles and marketing copy at a price a content mill will actually pay.
Writesonic survived the 2021 copy-AI crash by leaning into SEO content: articles, meta, and the unglamorous pages that have to exist for a keyword. That is a real job. It is also how the internet got a lot of samey posts.
- Best for
- SEO and content teams that need volume of publishable drafts, not a brand desk.
- Skip if
- Brand voice is the bottleneck, or you were about to pay Jasper prices for blog posts nobody asked for.
Why it ranks
- Article generation plus SEO assist is the actual product, not a slide
- Cheaper than Jasper for teams that measure publish count
- Good enough first drafts for affiliate, comparison, and how-to pages
Watch-outs
- Output still reads like a content mill if you do not rewrite the spine
- Brand voice is weaker than Jasper and weaker than a tight ChatGPT project
- Easy to confuse 'indexed' with 'worth ranking'
Product look
Writesonic
Figure slot. No vendor screenshot until we have a rights-cleared file.
People search 'Writesonic pricing' because they remember a mid-twenties article writer, or because finance asked why an SEO intern now costs more than Jasper. Those are different tickets. If you do not name whether you needed ChatGPT / Gemini / AI Overview tracking plus a capped writer, or just twelve comparison pages by Friday, you will pay Starter for a GEO dashboard nobody opens — or stay on a 2023 Lite quote until checkout laughs.
This is a cost page, not a feature dump. Public list prices below were checked against writesonic.com/pricing on 19 September 2026. The page leads with annual. Monthly is about 25% higher (they advertise 20% off for the year). We do not invent an Enterprise sticker, a citation lab, or a partner URL. The full review is /tools/writesonic. Writesonic alternatives is the leave-the-intern guide. The writing ranking is the scored table. The SEO ranking is the brief-and-score desk.
Writesonic cost in 2026, at a glance
| Plan | Public price | Articles / prompts | What you are actually buying |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | ~$99/mo, or $79/mo billed annually | 15 AI articles / mo; 50 prompts tracked; 10 audits (100 pages) | 1 user, 1 project, ChatGPT + Gemini + AI Overviews — the honest taste |
| Basic | ~$249/mo, or $199/mo billed annually | 25 articles; 100 prompts; 20 audits (1,200 pages) | 2 users (extras $50, max 5), 1 project, still three surfaces |
| Growth | ~$499/mo, or $399/mo billed annually | 50 articles; 200 prompts; 50 audits (2,500 pages) | 3 users, 2 projects, sentiment, Action Center trial — the 'recommended' row |
| Enterprise | Custom quote | Custom articles, prompts, and all 10 AI platforms | SSO/SAML, HIPAA, a strategist, Action Center as a product |
- There is no permanent free plan on the grid we checked. There is a trial with no credit card. Writesonic's own FAQ offers a 7-day refund on the first invoice.
- The old Lite / Standard / 'from the mid-twenties' packaging is gone. Articles that still quote $19–$49 as the 2026 plan are stale.
- Self-serve plans track three surfaces: ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews. All ten platforms are Enterprise.
- Growth can add articles at $100 per 20. Extra users on Basic and Growth are $50 each, capped. We will not invent a 'typical agency' seat math.
Buy Starter if you are proving GEO is a channel, not running a mill
Starter is the honest taste of the 2026 product. One user, one project, 15 articles, 50 prompts across three answer engines, ten small audits. Enough to see whether 'we are invisible in ChatGPT' is a real leak, and whether the article writer still needs a human spine. It is not enough if you already know AI search is a weekly motion — you will hit the prompt cap, the one-user wall, or the missing sentiment row.
Pay monthly if you are still proving the dashboard is not a slide. Pay annually if someone already owns the prompt list and will rewrite the drafts. Skip Starter if you only needed twelve how-tos and an editor — that is still ChatGPT Plus plus a calendar. Skip it if brand voice is the bottleneck. That is Jasper. Writesonic alternatives names those forks.
- Best for: one SEO or content lead testing whether AI-answer visibility is even a job
- Skip if: you needed a brand desk, a default brain, or a GTM workflow
- Honest watch-out: 15 articles will not become a content OS if you just buy more months
Buy Basic or Growth when tracking and volume are both the job
Basic is the first plan that looks like a two-person SEO desk: 25 articles, 100 prompts, fatter audits, a second login. Annual at about $199/month is a real line. Monthly at $249 is how you prove the second seat before you lock the year. Extra users are $50 — and you still only track three surfaces.
Growth is the row Writesonic marks popular. 50 articles, 200 prompts, two projects, sentiment, a thin Action Center trial, three seats. Annual at $399 is a GEO-plus-content budget, not an intern. Buy it when someone will work the prompt list and cut the spine. Skip it if you have not used Starter's 15 drafts. Skip it if the leak is a Content Editor score (Surfer), a quieter Docs grade (Clearscope), or a voice card (Jasper). The SEO ranking and the writing ranking are those tables.
- Best for: SEO and content teams that already ship comparison and how-to pages and will watch AI answers
- Skip if: you have not named an editor, or the leak is brand voice / a $20 tab / outbound
- Honest watch-out: more articles will not invent search demand. Unedited AI at Growth prices is just more expensive sludge
Buy Enterprise when ten platforms, or a strategist, is the job
Enterprise is how Writesonic sells the company. All ten AI platforms, full Action Center, custom article and audit caps, SSO/SAML, HIPAA on the FAQ, a dedicated strategist. You request a quote. That is not a darker Growth.
Buy it when AI-answer share is already a reported channel and security is in the room. Do not buy it because Starter felt lonely and a deck said '$350K deals from ChatGPT.' Mid-market teams often sign a GEO suite and then discover they needed an editor and three briefs, not a strategist.
Writesonic vs ChatGPT vs Jasper, as a bill
ChatGPT Plus is $20. Jasper Pro is about $59–$69 a seat. Writesonic Starter annual is $79. They are not a savings story. Plus is the draft tab. Jasper is the brand desk. Writesonic is visibility tracking plus a capped writer. Buying Starter to 'save' on Jasper if the job was voice is how you stay disappointed. Buying Jasper to save on a 40-URL calendar is how you fund unused Brand Voices. Writesonic alternatives and Jasper pricing are the longer versions.
Surfer Standard is about $99 before Pro. If the leak is coverage against the live SERP and someone will write to a Content Editor, that is a Surfer ticket — Surfer SEO pricing is the plan math. Writesonic will not become Surfer if you pay more. Frase is the cheaper research-to-draft seat when the bill was the objection. The SEO stack guide is that ladder.
What we are not pricing
- A citation-lift lab or an invented review count.
- Enterprise per-seat or per-prompt quotes. Anyone who publishes one invented it.
- A fake Impact or PartnerStack URL. Until a real partner link is set, the CTA goes to writesonic.com.
- The old Lite / $19–$49 writer as if it were still the 2026 plan.
Most 'what does Writesonic cost' tickets are a Starter ticket, a ChatGPT Plus ticket, or a Jasper ticket. The pricing page is doing too much work if you have not named whether GEO is the job.— Aiacent pricing, 2026
Verdict
One SEO lead, proving whether AI-answer visibility is a channel: Starter monthly, then leave if nobody works the prompt list. Two people, a real calendar, three surfaces are enough: Basic, annual if the habit is already real. Sentiment, two projects, 50 drafts: Growth. Ten platforms and a strategist: take the Enterprise conversation. One person with an outline and no GEO leak: do not buy Writesonic — Plus is the seat. Brand voice across a bench: Jasper. Trying not to buy the intern at all: Writesonic alternatives. Then read the writing ranking if you want the score next to Jasper and ChatGPT.
