How Aiacent ranks AI tools
We score workflow fit, implementation weight, and honest failure modes — not demo magic. Here is the rubric, the affiliate money, and what we will not do.
Aiacent exists because most AI roundups are either SEO wallpaper or a screenshot of a vendor's pricing page. We write rankings a practitioner could defend in a staff meeting. That means fewer tools, sharper no's, and a score you can argue with.
The job, not the category
Every product on this site has to name the job: high-volume hourly hiring, AP invoices, support resolutions, call coaching, product photography. 'AI platform' is not a job. If we cannot say who should skip the tool, we are not ready to review it.
What the score means
Scores are editorial, out of 10, and they are not a lab benchmark. An 9.0 means we would spend our own budget on it for the named job. A 7.5 means it is useful with caveats you should actually read. We do not publish sub-7 tools as 'best of' fillers — they go in honorable mentions or they wait.
- Workflow fit (does it remove a real step?)
- Time-to-value and implementation weight
- Failure mode (what happens when it is wrong?)
- Pricing honesty versus the demo
- Whether practitioners keep the tab open after week four
How we get paid
Aiacent is an affiliate site. If you click through and buy, we may earn a commission. That commission does not buy a rank. It does keep us from pretending this is a nonprofit. Sponsored placements, when we take them, live on the Deals page and are labeled. They do not land on a ranking table.
What we will not do
- Invent user counts or 'independent lab' tests we did not run
- Auto-generate 40 thin 'best AI tools for X' posts a month
- Hide the skip-if section so the CTA looks cleaner
- Rank a tool we could not explain to a skeptical operator
If a vendor cannot survive a paragraph of caveats, they cannot survive a real rollout.— Aiacent editorial rule
When a ranking changes, we date it. When we are wrong, we update the verdict — we do not quietly swap the hero. If you are a practitioner and we missed the plot, the contact form is for you.
