Pika is the video generator we would hand a creator who needed motion this week and will not sit through a Runway credit seminar. Short clips. Effects. A modify pass. That is a social-gen desk. It is not a film camera.
We put it first on the Runway alternatives page because most 'Runway is too expensive' tickets are a Pika ticket, not a Kling ticket. Kling wins when the motion has to hold a still. Descript wins when there was never a generation job. Mixing those up is how you buy Pika to replace an editor.
Skip Pika if the brief is a hero commercial. Skip it if the input is a transcript. A cheaper gen will not cut a podcast.
