ChatGPT is the baseline every other AI writing tool has to beat. For a solo operator with a decent brief, Plus is still the correct first purchase in 2026: drafts, rewrites, outlines, and the ugly first pass on a landing page. Image generation in the same tab is a different review — ChatGPT Images on the 2026 image ranking. Claude vs ChatGPT is the two-way fight if the other tab in the meeting is Anthropic. ChatGPT vs Gemini is the two-way if the other tab is Google. Perplexity vs ChatGPT is the two-way if the other tab is a research engine. People search 'ChatGPT Plus vs Team' because they want to know if the company should pay. The naming did not help: ChatGPT Team was renamed ChatGPT Business in 2025. The job did not change. Plus is a personal seat. Business (the thing you still mean by Team) is a shared workspace with a two-seat floor. Enterprise is security, contracts, and a quote. Mixing those up is how you buy ten Plus logins and call it IT, or sign Enterprise because someone said 'we need Team' and then live in the same prompts.

Stay on Plus if you are the only person in the tab
Plus is still the correct first purchase for a founder, an operator, or an editor who already knows how to prompt. Drafts, rewrites, a picture in the same thread, Custom GPTs that are close enough to a voice file for one person. $20. Switching to Business to feel professional is how you buy a workspace nobody else will join.
Keep Plus if the company is you, or if three people already have their own Plus cards and nobody will be the admin. Leave Plus when legal will not let work live in a consumer account, when you needed a shared space, or when finance wants one invoice. Those are Business or Enterprise tickets. They are not a reason to buy Jasper. Jasper vs ChatGPT is that other fight.

Buy Business (Team) when the workspace is the product
Business is what 'ChatGPT Team' means in 2026. Shared workspace, admin, a two-user minimum, Business data-use defaults. Standard seats are in the same band as Plus if you pay annually — about $20 per user per month, or about $25 month-to-month. You are not buying a better writer. You are buying a place the company can see.
Premium seats are a usage upgrade inside that same workspace — about $100 per user per month annual, more if you pay monthly. Buy them for the people who hit limits, not for everyone so the logo feels expensive. Skip Business if you are one person. Skip it if the real buyer is info-sec with a checklist Plus will never pass. That is Enterprise.

- Skip if: you are shopping a cheaper Plus, or you needed a BAA, residency, or invoice terms Business will not give you
- Honest watch-out: a workspace will not invent a brief, a voice card, or an admin who reviews prompts
Buy Enterprise when the contract is the job
Enterprise vs Team (Business) is not a feature matrix you win on model quality. It is SSO, SCIM, retention, residency, analytics, invoicing, a legal packet, sometimes credit- or token-based billing. There is no honest public sticker. Anyone who publishes one invented it.
Buy it when security already killed the consumer tab and Business self-serve is not enough. Do not buy it because a keynote said Enterprise. Mid-market teams often want Team, get pitched Enterprise, and then use it like Plus. Microsoft shops that already live in 365 should read Copilot on ChatGPT alternatives, not this paragraph.
What none of these plans should be
- Your brand desk. There is no voice card the intern cannot ignore. That is Jasper.
- Your overlay in Zendesk. That is Grammarly.
- A reason to skip Claude if the brief is a pile of PDFs. Same $20 band as Plus; different temperament.
- A lab result. We did not bake off Enterprise against Team on secret tasks.
