Is PhantomBuster worth it in 2026? An hours decision, not an Expandi costume
PhantomBuster is worth it when someone will run named Phantoms this month and can count hours. It is not worth it as Expandi, Taplio, or Scale theater. Start is the first honest climb. Here is the split — and the skip-ifs.

- How we rank
PhantomBuster
7.4/10Best LinkedIn / web automation hours
Hours and slots for LinkedIn and web automations — not an Expandi sequencer, and not a Taplio draft desk.
PhantomBuster is the correct desk when the expensive part is hours a Phantom or Workflow will actually run: LinkedIn search exports, profile visits, a sheet that has to refill, an email-find that sits on a credit. It is a bad substitute for Expandi when the expensive part is a LinkedIn sequence someone will launch, and a bad substitute for Taplio when the expensive part is a post. Mixing those up is how you pay Scale at $439 a month and still live in a 10-row export.
- Best for
- Operators who will run named Phantoms or Workflows this month and can count hours.
- Skip if
- You needed Expandi's LinkedIn cloud sequencer, Taplio's draft loop, or Apollo's list-plus-kit.
Why it ranks
- Start / Grow / Scale hours, slots, and credits are public on official PhantomBuster help (updated 10 July 2026)
- 14-day trial, then a real Free plan — 30 minutes, 1 slot — not a dead login
- Up to 100 workspace members share the meter. Plans are not a per-seat tax
Watch-outs
- Not Expandi. If the leak is a LinkedIn cloud sequence with warmup limits, you bought a Phantom costume
- Not Taplio. If the leak is a post you will still rewrite, hours will not invent the draft
- Help still says prices are current as of May 2026. Confirm phantombuster.com/pricing — currency is USD or EUR by location

People search 'is PhantomBuster worth it' after a Phantom actually filled a sheet, or after finance asked why LinkedIn automation now invoices $159 a month for hours nobody ran. Those are different tickets. If you do not name whether you needed execution hours, a LinkedIn cloud sequence, or a post you will still rewrite, you will buy Grow as a nicer Expandi — or stay on Free's 30 minutes until the 10-row export is the launch.
This is a buyer decision, not a lab. On Aiacent, PhantomBuster scores 7.4 as the LinkedIn / web automation-hours pick. Expandi still wins the LinkedIn cloud sequencer. Taplio still wins the draft loop. Apollo still wins the kit this week. The LinkedIn outreach stack is the order. Is Taplio worth it and the LinkedIn-creator stack are the post ladder. Apollo pricing is the kit bill. Read this one if the question is the PhantomBuster subscription. (is-expandi-worth-it was the brief's other slug. Official PhantomBuster help printed Start / Grow / Scale hours we could stand behind. This is the primary. Expandi lives on the outreach stack.)
The public ladder we checked
| Plan | Public price (confirm cart) | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|
| 14-day trial | $0 — 2 hours total, 5 slots | Official help: then you drop to Free unless you upgrade. |
| Free (after trial) | $0 — 30 minutes/month, 1 slot, 10-row export cap | Very light, occasional use. Not a scrape desk. |
| Start | $69/month, or $56/month billed yearly ($672/year) | The honest first hours desk — 20 hours, 5 slots, 10,000 AI / 500 email credits |
| Grow | $159/month, or $128/month billed yearly ($1,536/year) | 80 hours, 15 slots, 30,000 AI / 2,500 email credits, priority support. Parallel workflows. |
| Scale | $439/month, or $352/month billed yearly ($4,224/year) | 300 hours, 50 slots, 90,000 AI / 10,000 email credits. Agency hours, not a prettier Grow. |
- Official help: up to 100 workspace members share the meter. Plans are not a per-seat tax. Credits cannot be traded off the plan for a discount. Unused credits reset.
- Paid plans include unlimited CSV/JSON and API. Free and trial cap exports at 10 rows.
- Expandi Business is $99 a month or $79 yearly on expandi.io/pricing — a sequencer, not hours. Taplio Growth is $69 a month (about $49 yearly) on taplio.com/pricing — a draft loop. We cite them as skip-ifs.
- We will not invent an Impact URL or a leftover Phantom hour as an Expandi SKU.
The worth-it test
| If this is true | PhantomBuster is | Buy instead |
|---|---|---|
| Someone will run named Phantoms this month and export more than 10 rows | Worth it — that is the product. Start after the 14-day trial already ran | Stay on Start. Confirm yearly $56 before finance screenshots $69 |
| You are tasting whether anyone will run a Phantom | Not worth paying — use the 14-day trial, then Free's 30 minutes | Leave the week the 10-row cap would have been the launch |
| The leak is a LinkedIn sequence with warmup limits someone will launch | Not worth it as the only seat | Expandi Business. LinkedIn outreach stack. Confirm expandi.io/pricing. |
| The leak is a post you will still rewrite | Not worth it as the only seat | Taplio. Is Taplio worth it. The LinkedIn-creator stack. |
| The leak is a list-plus-kit this week | Not worth it as the only seat | Apollo. Is Apollo worth it. Apollo pricing. |
| 20 hours or 5 slots already are the wall | Worth it as Grow at $128/mo billed yearly — after Start already ran | Do not buy Grow so Start felt lonely |
| 300 hours or 50 slots are named | Software is the right category; Grow is the wrong SKU | Scale at $352/mo billed yearly — after Grow's 80 hours are already real |
PhantomBuster is worth it when the expensive part is the hours
The teams who should pay treat PhantomBuster like a junior researcher who will actually sit on the dashboard: a search that refills, a visit that is a visit, an email-find that spends a credit. Worth it means Start at $56 a month billed yearly — $672 a year on official help — is cheaper than another quarter of 'we'll just Expandi it' on a scrape job Expandi is the wrong shape for. That is a real bill on a growth desk. It is not a vibe. It is why we score PhantomBuster 7.4 as the hours pick — not the sequencer, not the draft desk.
If you cannot point at the Phantom you will run this month, you are shopping for a LinkedIn OS costume. The 14-day trial exists so you can learn that about yourself. Free after the trial is 30 minutes and 10 rows — official help, not a punishment. The LinkedIn outreach stack still starts with a list you already have. Do not buy Scale because a thread said 'AI Phantom OS.'
- Best for: desks that will run and export this month
- Skip if: you have not used the trial, or the leak is Expandi / Taplio / Apollo
- Honest watch-out: a Start year that sits as unused hours is more expensive than Free's 30 minutes plus a CSV you already had
PhantomBuster is not worth it as Expandi, Taplio, or Scale theater
Expandi wins the LinkedIn cloud sequence — Business $99 a month or $79 yearly on expandi.io/pricing, 7-day trial, limits the product will not let you blow past. Taplio wins the draft loop — Growth $69 a month, about $49 yearly, on the ladder we cite on is Taplio worth it. Apollo wins the kit this week — Basic $49 a seat billed annually (Apollo pricing). Buying Grow because Expandi felt 'not AI enough' is how you miss the sequence. Buying Start because Taplio felt 'too creator' is how you pay $69 for hours and never publish. The LinkedIn-creator stack is the post ladder. Do not steal it as a scrape costume.
LinkedIn will still ban a tab that behaves like a bot. Official PhantomBuster and Expandi pages both talk about limits for a reason. A prettier Phantom will not invent a safe daily cap. Mixing those up is how this category wastes a quarter — and sometimes an account.
When Grow, Scale, or credits are the real question
Grow is how PhantomBuster sells parallel runs. $128 a month billed yearly. Official extras: 80 hours, 15 slots, 2,500 email credits, priority support. Official plan-picker help: a Workflow can use up to 3 slots. You are buying concurrency, not a prettier Start. Buy it when Start's 20 hours or 5 slots already are the wall. Skip it if you have not exported on Start.
Scale is agency hours. $352 a month billed yearly. 300 hours, 50 slots, 10,000 email credits. Buy it when those numerals are named. Skip it if you wanted MCP-plus-Claude screenshots and not the run. Custom is a conversation after Scale. Official help: unused credits reset; they cannot be stripped off the plan for a cheaper Start.
What 'worth it' is not
- A scrape-accuracy lab. We did not run 400-Phantom bake-offs or invent a review count.
- A coupon hunt. Official help: PhantomBuster does not use a manual coupon field — promo links apply at signup. We do not invent codes or partner URLs.
- A reason to upgrade for AI credits. Credits sit on every paid plan. They are not why you leave Expandi.
- Safer than LinkedIn's rules. Hours will not invent a daily cap you will honor.
The 30-day tell
After a month, either someone ran a Phantom and opened a sheet with more than 10 rows, or they did not. If Start sat as a $69 Expandi, it was not worth it. If a list actually refilled because the hours ran, it was. That is the whole audit. The LinkedIn outreach stack tells you which leftover job is the sequence. Is Taplio worth it tells you which leftover job is the post.
PhantomBuster is worth it when the expensive part is hours a Phantom will actually run. It is not worth it when one person wanted Expandi, a Taplio costume, or Scale theater. Mixing those up is how you pay $69 and generate a 10-row export nobody opens.— Aiacent, 2026
Verdict
Worth it: hours you will run — 14-day trial first, Start at $56 a month billed yearly when the trial already exported more than 10 rows, Grow at $128 billed yearly when 20 hours or 5 slots are the wall, Scale only after 80 hours are real. Not worth it: tasting the scrape (trial, then Free), a LinkedIn sequence (Expandi — LinkedIn outreach stack), a post (is Taplio worth it — LinkedIn-creator stack), a kit this week (Apollo pricing). Then read the LinkedIn outreach stack if you are trying not to buy five LinkedIn logos, and the LinkedIn ranking if you want the creator scores.
