Drift

The website chatbot for inbound sales — not a support agent in a hoodie.

8.0/10Best website sales chatbotUpdated September 19, 2026

The Aiacent take

Drift is a website sales chatbot. The job is: a visitor hits pricing, the bot asks a real qualifying question, and a human gets a meeting instead of a 'leave your email' graveyard. That is conversational marketing, not customer service.

It leads our business-chatbot ranking because most 'best AI chatbot' lists still confuse a homepage widget with a ticket agent. Intercom Fin and Zendesk AI live on the customer-service ranking for a reason. Buy Drift when the leak is inbound. Buy Fin when the leak is tickets.

Salesloft owns the brand now. Treat the demo as a platform conversation, not a Chrome extension. If you needed Tidio-priced live chat, this page should talk you out of Drift.

A homepage bot that cannot book a meeting is a pop-up. Drift at least admits the job is revenue.

Pros

  • Built for inbound qualification and meeting booking, not 'deflection'
  • Playbooks and routing that a marketing site can actually run
  • Honest about being a sales product — the price is trying to tell you that

Cons

  • Overkill (and overpriced) for a five-person support inbox
  • Now lives in the Salesloft universe — ask what you are actually buying
  • Will not save a site with no offer and no human to take the meeting

Who it's for

  • B2B marketing and sales teams with real inbound traffic
  • Revenue orgs that will staff the meetings the bot books
  • Companies whose homepage chat is currently a black hole

Who should skip it

  • Support teams shopping for resolution (Fin, Zendesk AI, Ada)
  • SMBs that needed a live-chat widget this week (Tidio)
  • Anyone who will not put a human on the qualified conversations

What matters in the product

Playbooks and qualification

You write the questions. Drift routes the answers. Empty playbooks invent busywork. Treat it like a junior SDR script, not a magic greeter.

Meeting booking

The feature that pays for the seat. If the calendar integration is a science project, you bought a chat bubble.

Verdict

Buy Drift when the chatbot is a salesperson on the site. Do not buy it because you searched 'best AI chatbot' and needed a cheaper Intercom.
