Riverside

The remote studio — local tracks, then Magie and clips if you already recorded.

8.2/10Best remote podcast studioUpdated September 19, 2026

The Aiacent take

Riverside is the recording tool we would hand a host whose guest is in another city. Separate local tracks. A lobby a civilian can survive. That is the product. Magie — transcription, show notes, clips — is a useful layer on tape you already captured. It is not a reason to skip Descript if the weekly pain is the edit.

We ranked it second because 'best AI for podcasts 2026' is usually an edit-or-clip ticket, and Riverside wins the hour before that: the session. Opus Clip still wins a finished RSS dump. ElevenLabs still wins a voice you will not record.

Skip it if you record alone in a decent room and already live in Descript. Skip it if you thought Riverside would write the episode.

Pros

  • Local tracks beat a Zoom recording you will spend Friday repairing
  • Magie and AI clips are useful after a session you already ran
  • The guest link is simple enough that a non-podcaster will finish the take

Cons

  • The editor is not Descript. If the leak is 'um' hunting, you will feel it
  • Not a generated-voice shop. Intros that need a clone are ElevenLabs
  • Easy to buy Pro because the landing page said 4K and then record like Zoom anyway

Who it's for

  • Interview shows with remote guests
  • Video podcasts that have to look and sound like a studio
  • Teams who will actually download the separate tracks

Who should skip it

  • Solo hosts whose leak is the transcript edit (Descript)
  • People sitting on a finished season who only needed Shorts (Opus Clip)
  • Anyone shopping a clone instead of a microphone (ElevenLabs)

What matters in the product

Local recording

The reason to pay. If both sides record in the browser like a sales call, you bought a prettier Zoom.

Magie

Transcript, notes, a first clip. Review names. Then decide whether the weekly edit still belongs in Descript.

The guest experience

A link, a lobby, a take. This is why producers stay when the editor is 'fine.'

Verdict

The remote studio. Buy Riverside when the session is the leak. Edit in Descript if you outgrow Magie. Do not buy it as a clipper or a voice lab.
