The naming did not help: ChatGPT Team was renamed ChatGPT Business in 2025. The job did not change. Business is a shared workspace with a two-seat floor. Enterprise is security, contracts, and a quote. Mixing those up is how you sign Enterprise because someone said 'we need Team' and then live in the same prompts — or stay on Business until info-sec kills the tab.

Buy Business (Team) when the workspace is the product
Business is what 'ChatGPT Team' means in 2026. Shared workspace, admin, a two-user minimum, Business data-use defaults. Standard seats are in the same band as Plus if you pay annually — about $20 per user per month, or about $25 month-to-month on the public business pricing we checked. You are not buying a better writer. You are buying a place the company can see. That is worth it when two or more people will actually share threads, GPTs, and an admin who can turn a seat off.
Stay on Business if the company needed a workspace, not a legal packet. Leave Business when legal will not let work live without SSO, SCIM, retention controls, residency, invoicing, or a BAA Business will not sign. Those are Enterprise tickets. Buy Enterprise when the contract is the job
Enterprise vs Team (Business) is not a feature matrix you win on model quality. It is SSO, SCIM, retention, residency, analytics, invoicing, a legal packet, sometimes credit- or token-based billing. There is no honest public sticker. Anyone who publishes one invented it. OpenAI's own business pages describe Enterprise as a sales-led plan. We will repeat that. We will not reprint a blog's 'typical $60 seat' as if it were chatgpt.com/pricing.
Buy it when security already killed the consumer tab and Business self-serve is not enough. Do not buy it because a keynote said Enterprise. Mid-market teams often want Team, get pitched Enterprise, and then use it like Plus. That is how a contract sits unused next to the same prompts. Microsoft shops that already live in 365 should read Copilot on ChatGPT alternatives, not this paragraph. A website chatbot is a different ranking — Drift books meetings; Tidio is an SMB widget; Fin resolves tickets. Team vs Enterprise will not become a bubble.
Business Premium is not a back door to Enterprise
Premium seats are a usage upgrade inside the same Business workspace — about $100 per user per month annual, about $125 month-to-month on the page we checked. Buy them for the people who hit limits. Skip them for everyone so the logo feels expensive. Skip them if the real buyer is info-sec with a checklist Plus and Business will never pass. That meeting is still Enterprise.
