ElevenLabs pricing (2026): credits, Creator vs Pro, and who should pay
Starter is $6 a month. Creator is $22, or $11 the first month. Pro is $99. The expensive mistake is buying a clone lab when you needed a narrator — or treating the first-month half-off as the plan.

ElevenLabs
8.4/10Best AI voice quality
The voice people hear when they meant 'AI voice' — cloning, quality, and an API.
ElevenLabs is the default AI voice generator in 2026 for a reason: the output sounds like a person you would leave on a podcast, not a GPS. Instant Voice Cloning and the professional clone are the features people remember. The API is why product teams stay.
- Best for
- Teams that need a distinctive generated voice, a clone they own, or an API in the product.
- Skip if
- You needed a business voiceover studio, a listen-to-this-PDF app, or a cheap stock narrator.
Why it ranks
- The quality bar most 2026 'AI voice' searches are actually asking for
- Instant and professional clones that do not sound like a 2023 robot
- An API and agents layer if the voice has to live in a product, not a studio
Watch-outs
- Overkill (and overpriced) for a one-off explainer you will record once
- Not Murf — the project timeline and stock library are thinner
- Not Speechify — this is generation, not a reading app for your own homework
Product look
ElevenLabs
Figure slot. No vendor screenshot until we have a rights-cleared file.
People search 'ElevenLabs pricing' because they hit the free-credit wall, or because finance asked why a voice tab costs more than ChatGPT Plus. Those are different tickets. If you do not name whether the voice is the product — a clone, an API, a show host — or whether you needed forty articles narrated, you will buy Creator as a cheaper newsroom and still miss the backlog, or stay on Free until the clip you needed is a watermarked tease.
This is a cost page, not a clone tutorial. Public list prices below were checked against elevenlabs.io/pricing (ElevenCreative / Creative tab) on 19 September 2026. They change, and first-month banners sit next to the list. We do not invent a MOS-score lab, an Agents sticker, or a partner URL. The full review is /tools/elevenlabs. ElevenLabs alternatives is the leave-the-lab guide. The voice ranking is the scored table.
ElevenLabs cost in 2026, at a glance
| Plan | Monthly | Annual-equivalent | Credits / month | What you are actually buying |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 10k | A taste of TTS, STT, Studio (3 projects). Not a publish plan |
| Starter | $6 | $5/mo ($60/year) | 30k | Commercial license, instant clone, 20 Studio projects |
| Creator | $22 ($11 first month) | $18.33/mo | 121k | Professional Voice Cloning — the individual seat most operators keep |
| Pro | $99 | $82.50/mo | 600k | Volume plus 44.1 kHz PCM / 192 kbps via API |
| Scale | $299 | $249.17/mo | 1.8M | 3 workspace seats, team collab, 3 professional clones |
| Business | $990 | $825/mo | 6M | 10 seats, 10 professional clones, low-latency TTS as low as 5¢/minute |
| Enterprise | Custom quote | Custom | Custom | SSO, BAA / HIPAA, DPA, concurrency — a security conversation |
- Do not plan the year on Creator's $11 first month. The list is $22 monthly or about $18.33 billed annually.
- One credit is one character on V2 Multilingual TTS. Flash / Turbo API usage can be 0.5–1 credit per character. Speech-to-text is about 330 credits a minute. Music is about 900 a minute. Dubbing Studio without a watermark can be 10,000 a minute. The same pool pays for all of them.
- Unused paid credits roll over up to two months (balance cap 3× the monthly quota) if you stay on the plan. Downgrade or cancel and they expire. Free does not roll over.
- The pricing page also has Agents and API tabs. Those are different SKUs. We will not invent an Agents sticker or a per-character API contract from a blog.
Stay on Free if you only needed to hear the quality
Free is real: 10,000 credits, the models, three Studio projects. Enough to decide if the voice sounds like a person you would leave on a podcast. It is not a commercial plan. It is not a clone you will ship. If the test clip was the whole ticket, leave after the listen. If you already know you will publish, skip Free and start on Starter or Creator so you are not rebuilding the project on day eight.
Leave Free when a commercial license, an instant clone, or more than a tease of Studio is the leak. Do not leave Free because a tweet said 'AI voice' and showed a waveform. That meeting is often Murf (explainer) or Speechify (you are the listener). ElevenLabs alternatives names those forks.
Buy Starter if you needed a commercial license, not a professional clone
Six dollars. Thirty thousand credits. Instant Voice Cloning, commercial use, twenty Studio projects, music commercial use, Dubbing Studio. This is how a solo creator ships a voice they do not need to train for an hour. It is not Professional Voice Cloning. That starts at Creator.
Pay annually ($5-equivalent) if the habit is already real. Pay monthly if you are proving the voice is not a toy. Skip Starter if the founder voice is the show — you will feel the clone ceiling in week two — or if the backlog is articles, not a brand speaker. Play.ht is that desk.
- Best for: a solo publisher who needed a commercial stock-or-instant voice without training a professional clone
- Skip if: the voice is the brand (Creator+), the backlog is forty URLs (Play.ht), or the file is a training timeline (Murf)
- Honest watch-out: 30k credits is roughly 30k V2 characters. A long episode plus a few regenerations will still make you do math.
Buy Creator if the professional clone is the product
Creator is the honest individual seat. Professional Voice Cloning, 121,000 credits, the quality most 'we need ElevenLabs' tickets actually meant. Twenty-two dollars a month, or about $18.33 billed annually. The $11 first month is how they get you to start. It is not the number to put in a forecast.
Buy it when customers or an audience will hear a voice you own, and someone will actually train the clone — empty samples invent a cousin of the person you meant. Skip Creator if you needed an API volume desk (Pro), seats (Scale), or a stock narrator for one explainer (Murf). A prettier clone will not finish a timeline.
- Best for: podcasters, YouTubers, and product teams whose voice has to be distinctive
- Skip if: you needed raw API volume, three seats, a newsroom narration desk, or a reader
- Honest watch-out: a clone without permission is a legal problem, not a growth hack. Consent is not a pricing footnote.
Pro, Scale, Business — volume, seats, and the API
Pro ($99 / ~$82.50 annual) is 600,000 credits and higher-fidelity API audio. Buy it when the voice lives in a product and Creator's pool is already a weekly fight. Do not buy it because Creator felt junior and a sales deck said 'scale.'
Scale ($299, three seats, three professional clones) is the first team SKU. Business ($990, ten seats, ten clones, low-latency TTS) is a production bill. Enterprise is SSO, BAA, custom concurrency — open it when legal already killed a consumer voice tab, not because Pro ran out of characters on a Friday.
ElevenLabs cost versus the seats people actually mean
Versus Play.ht: Play.ht wins the week you have forty articles and no clone brief. ElevenLabs wins when the voice itself has to be yours. Buying Creator because a publisher blog said 'best AI voice' is how you pay clone prices for a narration desk.
Versus Murf: Murf wins a Tuesday explainer with a timeline. ElevenLabs wins a branded host. They overlap on 'a WAV came out.' They do not overlap on the habit that has to stick. The voice ranking is the scored version.
Versus Speechify: Speechify is a reader. ElevenLabs is a generator. Paying Creator to listen to PDFs is how this page exists.
What we are not pricing
- A MOS or 'realism' lab. We did not run 400-clip bake-offs or invent a review count.
- ElevenAgents or a custom API contract as a self-serve sticker. Those tabs exist. We will not guess the row.
- A fake Impact or PartnerStack URL. Until a real partner link is set, the CTA goes to elevenlabs.io.
- First-month 50% banners as the list price. They expire. The $6 / $22 / $99 rows are the plan.
Most 'what does ElevenLabs cost' tickets are a Creator ticket, a Play.ht ticket, or a Murf ticket. The pricing page is doing too much work if you have not named the voice job.— Aiacent pricing, 2026
Verdict
Hear the quality on Free, then leave or pay. Commercial stock-or-instant voice: Starter. Professional clone you will actually train: Creator, annual if the habit is already real. Product TTS and a credit fight: Pro. Seats: Scale or Business. Legal / HIPAA / SSO: Enterprise. The backlog was articles: do not buy ElevenLabs — Play.ht is the desk. The file was training: Murf. You are the listener: Speechify. Then read ElevenLabs alternatives if you are trying not to buy it, and the voice ranking if you want the scores next to Play.ht, Murf, and Speechify.
