Hootsuite
The enterprise social suite — listening, approvals, and a calendar a team can staff.
The Aiacent take
Hootsuite is the suite we would hand a social org that already has a manager, a brand, and a reason to approve a post. Listening, an inbox, workflows. OwlyWriter is a junior assistant on that desk. It is not why a five-person company should leave Buffer.
We put it on the Buffer alternatives page so the 'we outgrew Buffer' ticket has an honest row. Most of those tickets are real. Some of them are a Later ticket (the grid) or a Predis ticket (the tile) wearing an enterprise hat.
Skip Hootsuite if nobody will sit through setup. Skip it if the leak is creative or video. A better inbox will not invent a Reel.
Pros
- Approvals and listening are first-class, not a chrome extension
- OwlyWriter and inbox AI are useful on a desk that already has a process
- Agencies can park several brands without inventing a second calendar
Cons
- The bill will surprise a founder who wanted Buffer with a hoodie
- Implementation is a project. A calendar you will not train the team on is a tax
- Not a creative studio. Generated captions will not replace a designer
Who it's for
- In-house social teams with approvals and more than one brand
- Agencies that needed a client suite, not a founder calendar
- Comms teams that actually listen, not just schedule
Who should skip it
- Founders and small teams who still post themselves (Buffer)
- Visual brands whose complaint was the grid (Later)
- Teams whose leak is the asset (Predis, Pictory, Opus Clip)
What matters in the product
Approvals and workflows
The reason the seat costs what it costs. If nobody approves, you bought a heavy Buffer.
Listening and inbox
Useful when someone will answer. A dashboard nobody opens is a slide.
OwlyWriter
Caption drafts on a suite you already staff. Not a reason to migrate from Buffer.
Verdict
The enterprise suite. Buy Hootsuite when approvals and listening are the job. Stay on Buffer when the calendar is the job. Do not buy it as a creative shop.
