Manychat

Social-inbox chat marketing — not a website widget, and not a cheaper Intercom.

The Aiacent take

Manychat is the correct desk when the expensive part is conversations that already live in a social inbox: comment-to-DM, a broadcast, a WhatsApp follow-up someone will still own. It is a bad substitute for Tidio when the expensive part is a website bubble, and a bad substitute for Buffer when the expensive part is a Tuesday queue. Mixing those up is how you pay Pro so a Shopify chat felt lonely — or skip a working Instagram automation because a blog said Tidio Lyro replaced DMs.

We score it 7.7 as social-inbox chat marketing — under Tidio (7.8) on the website-bubble job, under Intercom Fin when the chat is tickets, and under Buffer (8.2) when the leak is the calendar. The chatbot ranking is the scored website desk. The social ranking is the queue. Tidio pricing is the widget bill.

Public prices come from Manychat's own 'Pricing Explained' blog (manychat.com/blog/manychat-pricing-explained/), checked 19 September 2026, which describes the Active Contacts model announced April 2026: Free $0 with 25 Active Contacts a month, one user, one Inbox seat, two channels, four live automations, and Manychat branding; paid plans are Essential, Pro, Business, and Advanced; Pro is $39 a month or $29 a month billed annually and includes 2,500 Active Contacts and AI Replies (not a separate add-on). Monthly overages on that page: Essential $0.10, Pro $0.05, Business $0.025 per extra Active Contact (annual rates $0.08 / $0.038 / $0.018). Help articles still mention a March 2, 2026 model change and leftover $15 / 500-contact Pro language for older accounts — confirm manychat.com/pricing for your region and account age. We will not invent an Essential sticker we could not read as a static card, a leftover AI add-on, or an Impact URL.

Pros

  • The inbox is Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, TikTok — where the comments already are
  • Pro includes AI Replies. It is not a $29 add-on on the 2026 model
  • Active Contacts reset monthly. A viral month is a spike, not a lifetime tax

Cons

  • Free is 25 Active Contacts. That is a taste, not a shop
  • Not a website widget (Tidio) and not a ticket desk (Intercom Fin)
  • A viral Reel without an overage cap is how the bill becomes the story

Who it's for

  • Creators and DTC shops whose DMs are already the funnel
  • Community and social desks that will actually own comment-to-DM this week
  • Anyone who already rejected a website widget as the Instagram inbox

Who should skip it

  • Anyone whose week is a storefront bubble (Tidio — Tidio pricing)
  • Anyone whose week is tickets (Intercom Fin) or a queue (Buffer)
  • Anyone still tasting automations — Free is 25 Active Contacts, not a launch

What matters in the product

Social channels, not a website bubble

Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, TikTok, Telegram, SMS, email on paid climbs. A Shopify widget is Tidio.

Active Contacts, not a lifetime list

The 2026 meter. A viral month is a spike. Set the overage cap. Do not treat 25 Free contacts as a shop.

AI Replies on Pro

Included on the 2026 Pro card. A leftover 'AI add-on' help article is the old model. You still own the send.

Verdict

Buy Pro when social DMs are already the funnel and Free's 25 contacts ran out. Do not buy it as Tidio, Intercom, or a scheduler.
