Tella
The Loom-shaped async video — camera, screen, and an editor people will finish.
The Aiacent take
Tella is the Loom alternative we would actually switch a product team to. Camera plus screen, an editor that is not a punishment, AI for titles and cleanup. That is async video as an operator job. It is not a cinematic editor, and it is not a podcast studio.
We put it first on the Loom alternatives page because most of those searches are 'we needed the same habit, somewhere else.' Screen Studio wins a marketing demo. Descript wins a transcript edit. Riverside wins a guest. Mixing those up is how you buy a studio to send a two-minute standup.
Stay on Loom if the team already lives there and the complaint is taste, not the bill or the editor. Switching tools will not add a point of view.
Most 'we need a Loom alternative' tickets are a Tella ticket. The rest are a Screen Studio or Descript ticket wearing a Loom complaint.
Pros
- The closest 2026 Loom replacement that is still a video, not a deck
- Layout, crop, and AI cleanup that a PM will actually finish
- Sharing that does not feel like you mailed a raw MOV
Cons
- Not Screen Studio — cursor polish and zooms still lose on a Mac demo
- Not Descript if the file is a 40-minute interview you wanted to edit as text
- Not a presentation product. Gamma if the 'Loom' was a board update
Who it's for
- Product, CS, and founders who already think in Loom links
- Teams that needed a slightly grown-up editor without becoming filmmakers
- Anyone whose weekly video is a face and a tab
Who should skip it
- Mac demo teams who needed cursor theater (Screen Studio)
- Podcast producers (Riverside or Descript)
- People whose 'video update' is actually a slide deck (Gamma)
What matters in the product
Record and rearrange
The habit. Cut the false start. Change the layout. Do not pretend this is Premiere.
AI assist
Titles, cleanup, a first pass. Watch the words it puts on your face. Customers can tell.
Verdict
The default Loom alternative when the job is still async video. Do not buy it as Screen Studio, Descript, or a deck tool.
