Stack guide · 2026
A sane AI sales stack (2026)
Start with ChatGPT. Add the next seat only when you can name the bottleneck — the call, the list, the outbound kit, the first-touch workflow, or the wire. A ladder, not a 40-tool Revenue OS.

- How we rank
ChatGPT
8.3/10Best default writing seat
The default brain. Still the right first writing seat for most people.
ChatGPT is the baseline every other AI writing tool has to beat. For a solo operator with a decent brief, Plus is still the correct first purchase in 2026: drafts, rewrites, outlines, and the ugly first pass on a landing page. Image generation in the same tab is a different review — ChatGPT Images on the 2026 image ranking. Claude vs ChatGPT is the two-way fight if the other tab in the meeting is Anthropic. ChatGPT vs Gemini is the two-way if the other tab is Google. Perplexity vs ChatGPT is the two-way if the other tab is a research engine. On a coding desk it is a helper tab, not an IDE — that ranking is AI coding. On an SEO desk it is a draft helper, not a content-score platform — that ranking is AI SEO.
- Best for
- Anyone who needs a strong general writer, researcher, and editor in one tab.
- Skip if
- Several people have to sound like the same company every week — that is Jasper's job.
Why it ranks
- The best generalist writer most operators will actually open
- Research, drafting, and editing in one thread beats a template farm
- Plus is cheap enough that 'should we buy a copy tool' is a real question
Watch-outs
- No shared brand voice unless you build the habit yourself
- Easy to publish confident filler if nobody owns the facts
- Not a campaign system, a sequencer, or a style-guide desk

Gong
9.0/10Best revenue intelligence
Revenue intelligence: the calls, the pipeline, the coaching.
Gong records and analyzes customer conversations, then turns them into coaching, forecast risk, and competitive notes. It is the highest-scoring tool in our library because, used well, it changes how a sales org operates — not just how it transcribes.
- Best for
- B2B sales teams that live on calls and need coaching, not just recording.
- Skip if
- You have three sellers and a shared Google Drive of Zoom links.
Why it ranks
- Still the standard for conversation intelligence
- Coaching, deal warnings, and market intel in one place
- Reps actually open it because the recordings are useful
Watch-outs
- Expensive, and you will feel it under ~15 reps
- Can become surveillance theater if managers only use scorecards
- Implementation includes CRM hygiene you may not have

Clay
8.6/10Best GTM enrichment
The GTM spreadsheet that waterfalls the internet.
Clay is a spreadsheet that can call dozens of data providers, scrape (carefully), and run an LLM over each row. It is how modern outbound teams build lists that are not a 2017 ZoomInfo dump.
- Best for
- Growth and RevOps teams who think in tables and APIs.
- Skip if
- Your SDRs need a simple sequence tool, not a construction kit.
Why it ranks
- Waterfall enrichment is the correct way to buy data
- AI columns let you research accounts the way an analyst would
- Community playbooks are unusually good
Watch-outs
- Easy to light money on fire with sloppy credits
- Not a CRM, not a sequencer — you still need those
- Learning curve; this is GTM engineering

Copy.ai
8.1/10Best for GTM workflows
GTM workflows dressed up as a writing tool.
Copy.ai outgrew the headline-generator era. The current product is a go-to-market workflow engine: pull in account context, enrich it, and spit out emails, one-pagers, or briefings a BDR can actually send. If you are trying not to buy it, Copy.ai alternatives is the decision page — Jasper, ChatGPT, Writesonic, Claude, Clay, Grammarly, and when this seat still wins. Copy.ai pricing is the 2026 plan ladder (Chat versus Growth versus Enterprise).
- Best for
- RevOps and growth teams automating outbound research and first drafts.
- Skip if
- You wanted a simple copywriter and nothing else — the GTM layer will feel like homework.
Why it ranks
- Workflows can research accounts and draft sequences, not just slogans
- Better fit for sales and RevOps than most 'copy' tools
- Generous way to prototype a GTM process before you hire it out
Watch-outs
- The product story keeps shifting — copy tool, then GTM platform
- Workflow builder has a learning curve
- Output still needs a human who knows the account

Apollo.io
8.3/10Best all-in-one prospecting
Data, sequencing, and a usable dialer in one login.
Apollo is the default 'just get me a list and let me email them' platform, and it has earned that job. Database, sequences, and a dialer in one place, at a price a 10-person sales team can swallow.
- Best for
- SMB and mid-market teams that want prospecting without a five-vendor stack.
- Skip if
- You already pay for ZoomInfo + Outreach + a data engineer.
Why it ranks
- The value stack (data + sequences + dialer) is hard to beat at the price
- Free tier is useful, not insulting
- Good enough data for many SMB motions
Watch-outs
- Data quality is uneven — always verify emails on high-stakes outreach
- Deliverability still depends on your domains, not Apollo's optimism
- Power GTM teams will outgrow it toward Clay + a sequencer

People search 'AI sales stack' after a vendor demoed a Revenue OS. The honest 2026 stack is smaller: a brain you already open, then one seat per bottleneck you can name. If you cannot name the bottleneck, you are not shopping for a stack. You are shopping for a slide.
This is a ladder, not a dump. The sales ranking is the scored table — Gong for the call, Clay for the list, Apollo when you need a kit this week, Copy.ai when the first touch is a workflow. The transcription ranking is notes when Gong is the wrong shape. Copy.ai pricing is the GTM-rung bill. The automation ranking is the wire. Read this one if you are trying to not buy five tools in one quarter — or to add the second one on purpose.
Start here
ChatGPT Plus. Most 'we need an AI sales stack' tickets are this ticket with extra procurement. Account briefs, a first pass on the email, a recut of the call notes, 'make this less stiff.' Plus is $20. Custom GPTs are close enough to a voice file for one AE. They are not a coaching OS, a waterfall of data providers, or a dialer.
Stay here until a named leak shows up in a staff meeting: nobody coaches from the tape, the list is a 2017 dump, you needed data plus sequences this week, the first touch is a repetitive research workflow, the meeting is notes not an OS, or nothing is wired. If none of those are true, another logo will not make Tuesday's number.
- Start: ChatGPT Plus — the default sales brain, then look at the CRM
- Do not start: a 40-tool 'Revenue AI OS,' a second sequencer, or Gong before anyone reviews a call
- Honest watch-out: a prettier scorecard will not invent a process, and a stack will not invent a manager
Add the next seat when the bottleneck is named
Add Gong when coaching from the tape is the leak
The leak is deal risk, a library of what good sounds like, and a manager who will review moments. Gong is quote-only: per-user licenses plus a platform fee. That is either insulting or obvious. Skip Gong if you have five AEs and no review ritual — buy Otter or Fireflies and read the transcription ranking. Skip it if the leak is the list. Gong pricing is the model-without-a-sticker page. Treating Gong as a notetaker is how the teams who hate it got that way.
Add Clay when the list is a dump
The leak is enrichment you will waterfall, and someone who thinks in tables. Credits scale. Empty columns invent last year's ICP. Skip Clay if your SDRs needed a sequence tool yesterday — that is Apollo. Skip it if nobody will own credits and data quality. You still need a CRM and a place to send the sequence. Clay is a construction kit, not a dialer. The automation ranking sits it last on purpose: it is not Zapier for ops.
Add Apollo when you needed a stack this week
The leak is data plus sequences plus a usable dialer in one login, at a price a 10-person team can swallow. Free is real. Paid seats are tens of dollars, not a platform fee. Skip Apollo if you already pay for a data team and Outreach. Skip it if you will not set up domains. Power GTM teams eventually feed Apollo from Clay. Buying Clay because you needed a dialer is how GTM projects stall.
Add Copy.ai when the first touch is a workflow
The leak is research-to-email you will build once. Infobase, account context, a sequence a BDR can send. Treat it as GTM infrastructure with a writing layer, not as Jasper-but-cheaper. Chat is about $29 and is not the workflow product. Growth is four figures. Skip Copy.ai if nobody will own the workflow — you will experience it as a confusing writer with extra menus. Skip it if the leak is the list (Clay) or the sentence a brand desk has to own (Jasper). Copy.ai pricing is the plan-by-plan bill. Copy.ai alternatives if you already know this seat is the wrong shape.
Add Otter or Fireflies when the meeting is notes, not an OS
The leak is a recap someone will skim, or last quarter in HubSpot. Otter Pro is about $17 a month or $8.33 billed annually. Fireflies is the cheaper archive-and-CRM seat. Fathom if the card was the fight. Skip all three as 'our Gong' if a manager will actually coach — that is the Gong rung, and stretching a notetaker into theater is how Otter pricing exists. The transcription ranking is the scored version.
Add a wire when nothing is connected
Zapier when the job is a reliable zap: form lands, Slack pings, a row in the sheet, an optional AI classify. Make when the zap became a machine. n8n when the graph has to live next to the repo. Do not buy an 'AI SDR' because the form-to-Slack zap was the fight. The automation ranking and Zapier alternatives are those pages. Skip the wire if the leak was the call or the list. A prettier graph will not write the sequence.
What is not a rung
- A second sequencer because the first one felt cheap. Name the job first.
- Gong for three people with no review ritual. That is a notetaker ticket.
- Copy.ai Chat because the demo was Growth workflows. Copy.ai pricing is that trap.
- Drift as a 'sales AI stack.' It is a website chatbot. Chatbot ranking, not this ladder.
- A 40-tool 'Revenue AI OS' that promises to prospect, write, dial, coach, and forecast so you do not have to look
- Vendor 'AI employee' theater that files itself into the CRM. The automation ranking already declined that row.
Most 'we need an AI sales stack' tickets are a ChatGPT ticket, an Apollo ticket, or a Gong ticket. The word stack is doing too much work.— Aiacent stack guide, 2026
A 2–8 person sales desk, in one pass
Solo or two-person founder-led: ChatGPT Plus, Apollo if you still have to prospect, Otter or Fathom if you wanted tape. Stop. Do not buy Gong. Do not buy Growth Copy.ai. A 6–8 person BDR-and-AE desk: keep Plus for the people who write alone, add Apollo or keep it if the kit is already working, add Clay only if someone will own credits, add Gong only if a manager already reviews calls, add Copy.ai only if outbound research is a weekly motion someone will maintain, Zapier for the three zaps you will actually map. That is a stack. A slide with twelve Revenue AI logos is a directory. The writing-tool checklist is the RFP if the next buy is a writer. Copy.ai alternatives if the GTM seat is the fight.
Verdict
Do not start from a list of logos. Start from ChatGPT. Add Gong when coaching is the bottleneck. Add Clay when the list is the leak. Add Apollo when you needed a kit this week. Add Copy.ai when the first touch is a workflow. Add Otter or Fireflies when you needed notes, not an OS. Add Zapier or Make when nothing is wired. Then read the sales ranking if you want the scores in one table, transcription for the tape, automation for the graph, and Copy.ai pricing if the GTM rung is the one you are actually buying.
