Gamma pricing (2026): Free, Plus, Pro, Ultra — and the credit math
Plus is the making-decks seat. Pro is brand, analytics, and API. Ultra is a credit bill. The expensive mistake is treating Free's 400 credits as a production plan — or buying Ultra because a slide looked cinematic.

If you do not name whether you needed a credible first draft this afternoon, a native PowerPoint master, or slides that already live in Canva, you will buy Pro as a cheaper Beautiful.ai — or stay on Free until the generate you needed is gone.

- Subscriptions are per user. Two people on monthly Pro is two Pro seats. Gamma Help is blunt about that.
- Paid credits refresh monthly even on annual billing. Unused credits roll over up to 2× the plan size (Plus can sit at 2,000; Pro at 8,000).
- Free starter credits do not refresh. Referrals can add more. Do not plan a launch week on 400 credits and a hope.
- Credit cost varies by action, model, and complexity. There is no honest 'N decks per month' we will invent.
- Business / Teams packaging exists as a workspace conversation. We will not invent a Business sticker Gamma did not put on the public cards we could stand behind.
Stay on Free if you are proving the habit
Free is a real product: import a PDF or PPTX, export to PDF, PPTX, PNG, or Google Slides, generate a short deck. Four hundred credits and a 10-card cap. That is enough to learn whether Gamma's card style is a draft you will edit or a theme you hate. Gamma does not run a traditional free trial — Free is the trial, with no card.
Leave Free when the badge has to come off, when 10 cards is the fight, or when you are generating every week and the 400 is gone. Do not leave Free because a blog said 'AI presentations' and showed a cinematic hero. That meeting is often Plus AI inside the file you already have — Gamma alternatives is the longer why.
Buy Plus if you will actually make decks
Plus is the honest individual / small-team production seat. Badge off, 1,000 monthly credits, 100 cards in a prompt, advanced image models. One operator who ships internal reviews, fundraising drafts, or lunch-and-learns will feel it. Pay annually if the habit already survived Free. Pay monthly if you are proving the bot is not a second designer people refuse to edit.
Skip Plus if the file has to be born on last year's PowerPoint master (Plus AI), if five people have to look like one company and someone will maintain a kit (Beautiful.ai), or if Canva is already the design OS (Canva Magic Studio). Skip it if the leak is the story, not the slides — that is the writing ranking.

Buy Pro when brand, analytics, or API is the job
Pro is how Gamma sells the grown-up workspace: custom branding and fonts, detailed viewer analytics, password protection, API, ten custom domains, premium image models, 4,000 credits. You are buying control and publishing, not a prettier generate button. Two seats are two bills.
Buy it when someone will set the theme and several people will share decks that have to look like the company. Do not buy it because Plus felt lonely and a landing page said 'customization.' A custom domain will not invent a narrative. Ultra is the next credit step — 20,000 a month and the newest models — not a reason to look enterprise. Gamma Help has described Ultra as a newer, often monthly seat. Confirm annual before you model a year.
Gamma cost versus the seats people actually mean
Versus Plus AI (add-in money inside PowerPoint or Google Slides): Plus AI wins when the file was never allowed to leave the master. Gamma wins speed to a shareable draft you can present in the browser or export. Buying Gamma because you needed a .pptx legal will accept is how you re-theme in a panic on Sunday.
Versus Beautiful.ai (team brand kit): Beautiful.ai wins when Smart Slides and a locked kit are the bottleneck. Gamma wins the messy-brief-to-cards habit. They overlap on 'a pretty deck.' They do not overlap on who owns the theme.
Versus Canva Magic Studio: Canva wins if the rest of the creative already lives there. Gamma wins if you needed a narrative from a doc and did not want a social-tile tool. Canva alternatives is the design-OS page. Do not split the stack to save a few dollars if the file is already Canva.
What we are not pricing
