You.com
A multi-model research-and-agent tab — not a cheaper Perplexity, and not the Search API.

The Aiacent take
You.com is the correct tab to buy when the job is 'several models plus a research agent in one place' and you will actually switch. It is a bad substitute for Perplexity when the expensive part is a cited public-web brief you will click, and a bad substitute for ChatGPT when the expensive part is a mixed draft. Forcing a single trophy is how you pay $20 for a third research costume and still live in perplexity.ai.
We score it 7.6 as the multi-model research tab that is not Perplexity. Perplexity still wins cited answers (8.0). ChatGPT still wins the default writing seat (8.3). Gemini still wins the Doc you will not leave (7.9). The Search API on you.com/pricing is a developer meter — not this consumer seat.
Consumer list prices come from you.com/upgrade, checked 19 September 2026: Pro $20 billed monthly, or $15 a month billed annually at $180 a year; Max $200 billed monthly, or $175 a month billed annually at $2,100 a year. The Pro card listed latest models, research and custom agents, file and image uploads up to 64k tokens, and ARI at 10× deep research. The Max card listed unlimited ARI reports, uploads up to 1M tokens, a team of 25, and zero data retention / no-training. You.com's own Max help article (support.you.com) lists up to 5× Pro rate limits, unlimited ARI, and no Max trial. The /pricing URL is Web Search API ($5 per 1,000 calls, Contents $1 per 1,000 pages, Answer $5, Research from $12 — plus a $100 API credit on the page we opened). Confirm checkout — sale badges move. We will not invent a leftover YouPro SKU, a Team sticker we could not read on the live upgrade card, or an Impact URL.
Product look
You.com
Figure slot. No vendor screenshot until we have a rights-cleared file.
Pros
- Several frontier models in one tab if you will actually pick them
- Research / custom agents and ARI are a named product, not a footnote
- Annual Pro is a real $180 lock if the habit already survived Free
Cons
- Citations are not the product the way they are on Perplexity
- Same $20 band as Plus and Perplexity Pro — you are not saving money
- you.com/pricing is the Search API. Mixing that meter with Pro is how this page exists
Who it's for
- Operators who will actually switch models instead of living in one default
- Researchers who wanted ARI / custom agents and already bounced off a single-engine tab
- People who already rejected Perplexity as a writer and ChatGPT as a citation engine
Who should skip it
- Anyone whose week is cited public-web briefs they will click (Perplexity Pro)
- Anyone whose week is a mixed draft (ChatGPT Plus)
- Developers who said You.com and meant the Search API on you.com/pricing
What matters in the product
Multi-model chat
OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and others in one thread if you will pick. A default you never change is a more expensive ChatGPT.
Research agents and ARI
The reason Pro exists. ARI is the deep-research agent. Max is unlimited ARI reports — not a smarter Pro for a weekly brief.
Consumer tab vs Search API
you.com/upgrade is the seat. you.com/pricing is API calls. Do not budget $5/1k as if it were Pro.
Verdict
Buy Pro when several models plus a research agent is the named leak and Free already ran out. Do not buy it as a cheaper Perplexity, a ChatGPT killer, or the Search API.
