Notion AI pricing (2026): Plus vs Business — and why the old add-on is gone
Full Notion AI now lives on Business at about $20 a member billed annually. Plus is a trial. The expensive mistake is climbing a wiki plan for a chatbot — or staying on Plus until Q&A is folklore.

People search 'Notion AI pricing' because they remember a $10 add-on, or because finance asked why a wiki chatbot costs a Business seat. Those are different tickets. If you do not name whether the knowledge already lives in Notion, or whether you needed a frontier tab you will actually open, you will climb from Plus to Business for a model and still paste the spec into ChatGPT — or stay on a trial until workspace Q&A is a rumor.

- The old ~$10 per-member AI add-on is gone. Articles that still sell it as a checkout row are stale.
- Free and Plus include a trial of Notion AI. Ongoing Agent, meeting notes, and Enterprise Search require Business or Enterprise — Notion's own product and pricing pages say so.
- You are buying the wiki plus AI, not an add-on you can peel off. Comparing '$20 vs ChatGPT Plus $20' is how finance buys the wrong layer.
- Custom Agents are a second meter. Credits are shared workspace-wide and reset monthly. We will not invent a typical-credit lab.
Stay on Free or Plus if you needed a wiki, not an agent
Plus is still a real product. Unlimited collaborative blocks, uploads, sites, a workspace people will actually share. The AI on Plus is a trial. If you already draft in ChatGPT and only needed a place for the spec, Plus under that tab is a stack, not a failure.
Leave Plus when workspace Q&A, AI meeting notes that land next to the project, or the Agent that can see the page is the actual leak — and the team will ask the wiki more than they will open another tab. Do not leave Plus because a blog said 'Notion AI' and showed a $10 add-on. That meeting is often ChatGPT Plus. Notion AI vs ChatGPT is the longer why.
Buy Business when the page is already the company
Business is the honest AI plan. Notion Agent, AI Meeting Notes, Enterprise Search, SAML SSO, granular database permissions, private teamspaces. About $20 per member per month if you pay a year up front. About $24 month-to-month. You are buying a wiki other people can find, plus a model that can see it. Empty pages still produce confident folklore. Clean the house a little first.
Pay annually if the workspace is already the source of truth and people will ask the page. Pay monthly if you are proving the Agent is not a second intern nobody trusts. Skip Business if you do not use Notion — do not move the company for the chatbot. Skip it if the leak is a frontier first draft (ChatGPT), a pile of PDFs (Claude), files you own (Obsidian), live captions (Otter), or a brand desk (Jasper). Notion AI alternatives names those forks. Buy Enterprise when security, or retention, is the job
Enterprise is how Notion sells the company that lost the consumer-wiki argument with security. SCIM, audit log, advanced controls, zero data retention with LLM providers, a customer-success conversation. You request a quote. That is not a darker Business.
Buy it when the wiki has to be the wiki and legal is already in the room. Do not buy it because Business felt lonely. Custom Agents credits are still an add-on conversation on Business and Enterprise — size them from the usage dashboard, not from a keynote.
Notion AI cost versus the seats people actually mean
Versus ChatGPT Plus ($20): Plus wins the blank page. Business wins the page you are already on. If the team is already on Notion Business for SSO and permissions, the incremental AI cost is in the plan you already needed. If the team is on Notion Plus and only wanted a chatbot, do not climb to Business for the model. Buy ChatGPT. Notion AI vs ChatGPT is the two-way.
Versus Obsidian: different layer. Obsidian is files you own, with AI as a plugin and a model key you pay separately. Notion Business is a company wiki. Mixing the bills is how a notes project wastes a quarter. Notion vs Obsidian is that fight.
Versus Otter Pro (about $8–$17): Otter wins live captions in the room. Notion wins notes that already have to sit next to the spec. Buying Business because a meeting bot felt expensive is how you still miss the live transcript. The transcription ranking is the scored version.

- A Q&A accuracy lab. We did not run 400-wiki bake-offs or invent a review count.
- An Enterprise per-seat sticker. Anyone who publishes a mid-four-figure 'typical' contract invented it.

Wiki you already trust, people will ask the page: Business, annual if the habit is already real. Still proving the workspace: Plus, and keep ChatGPT for drafts. Security or zero retention with model vendors: take the Enterprise conversation.
