The Aiacent take
Ahrefs is the SEO suite we would buy when the leak is data: who links, what ranks, what is broken, what the competitor actually has. Site Explorer, Keywords Explorer, Site Audit, Rank Tracker. The 2026 homepage will also sell AI visibility. That is a second product. Mixing them up is how you pay Lite for a content score you still do not have.
We score it 8.4 as the backlink and crawl desk, not as an AI writer. Surfer still wins the brief-to-score habit (8.3). Clearscope still wins the editor grade (8.1). Frase still wins the cheaper research-to-draft seat (7.9). Semrush still wins when the same login has to do PPC, social, and a content toolkit. ChatGPT will invent a SERP. Do not let it.
Public list prices come from ahrefs.com/pricing and Ahrefs' own 2026 plan guide, checked 19 September 2026: Starter $29, Lite $129, Standard $249, Advanced $449, Enterprise from $1,499 a month. Annual billing is advertised as up to 17% off (two free months on the vendor blog). Confirm checkout. We will not invent a coupon or a grey-market seat.
Product look

Figure slot. No vendor screenshot until we have a rights-cleared file.
Pros
- The index other SEOs still argue from — backlinks, keywords, a crawler you can name
- Lite is a real paid desk; Standard drops the credit meter for daily research
- Brand Radar and custom prompts are sold as themselves, not buried as 'AI included'
Cons
- Starter at $29 is not the Ahrefs people mean in a Slack argument
- Brand Radar starts at $199/mo per AI platform and is not in the base plan
- Not a Surfer brief, a Frase draft, or a reason to skip the content editor
Who it's for
- In-house SEO and consultants who live in backlinks, keywords, and audits
- Agencies that needed an index a client will recognize in a status
- Teams adding AI-prompt tracking as a named add-on, not as the reason to buy Ahrefs
Who should skip it
- Writers who needed a content score (Surfer, Clearscope, or Frase)
- One person who wanted a $20 outline (ChatGPT Plus)
- Buyers who thought Brand Radar came free on Lite
What matters in the product
Site Explorer and Keywords Explorer
The product. Links, traffic estimates, keyword gaps. Credits meter Starter and Lite. Standard and higher are unlimited on Ahrefs' own plan guide, subject to their terms.
Site Audit and Rank Tracker
Crawl the site you own. Track the terms you named. Lite is the first plan that looks like a weekly SEO desk. Starter's 50 keywords is a taste.
Brand Radar and Content Kit
Standalone or add-on AI rows. Brand Radar starts at $199/mo per AI platform on the vendor blog. Content Kit / AI Content Helper from $99/mo. Not a reason to skip Surfer.
Verdict
Buy Ahrefs for the index. Do not buy it as a cheaper Surfer, and do not buy Brand Radar because the homepage said AI marketing platform.
