HeyGen

Personalized avatar video — the prospect's name, in their language.

8.0/10Best for personalized videoUpdated September 18, 2026

The Aiacent take

HeyGen is the video tool we would buy for outbound and lifecycle personalization: a presenter that can say the account's name, in the right language, without a shoot. That is closer to a GTM motion than to a YouTube program.

It sits just under Synthesia because training/enablement is a clearer department, and HeyGen's happiest customers are growth teams who will build the pipeline. If nobody owns the list, you have bought a novelty.

Do not use it as a Pictory substitute. URL-to-captioned-explainer is a different product.

Pros

  • Personalization (name, company, locale) is a first-class motion, not a hack
  • Avatar quality is competitive with Synthesia for public-facing clips
  • API and batch jobs match how growth teams actually work

Cons

  • Personalized spam is still spam — the model will not save a bad offer
  • Not the straightforward blog-to-video tool
  • Avatar uncanny-valley still shows up on a landing-page hero

Who it's for

  • B2B growth teams adding video to outbound or onboarding
  • Support and success teams localizing a human-looking update
  • Marketers testing personalized creative, not just personalized subject lines

Who should skip it

  • SEO teams sitting on a blog archive (Pictory)
  • L&D departments standardized on Synthesia already
  • Brand teams that will not put an AI face on the homepage

What matters in the product

Personalized video

Variables in the script, batch render. Review a sample. Then decide if the channel can survive an AI face.

Translation

Useful when the same clip has to ship in six languages. Still check proper nouns.

Verdict

The personalized-video pick. Buy HeyGen when the clip has to be about that account. Buy Pictory when the clip has to be about that article. Buy Synthesia when the clip has to train a room.
