Synthesia
Avatar video for training, enablement, and company updates — not a film.
The Aiacent take
Synthesia leads our video ranking because avatar training and enablement is a real department with a budget, and Synthesia is still the default there. Script, avatar, locales. No camera. No editor. That is a different job from text-to-video for marketers.
It is not Pictory, and it is not Runway. Teams that buy Synthesia to 'make TikToks' are buying a presenter for a channel that did not ask for one. Teams that buy it to replace a quarterly film shoot for product training usually keep it.
Personal avatars help. They do not make a wooden script less wooden.
Pros
- The grown-up avatar product: scripts in, localized presenter videos out
- Custom avatars and translations are why enterprises keep paying
- Looks like a training video on purpose, which is the job
Cons
- Uncanny if you try to fake a founder brand film
- Wrong tool for blog-to-social recuts (that is Pictory)
- Per-minute economics add up when everyone 'just needs a quick video'
Who it's for
- L&D and sales enablement with a localization problem
- Internal comms that cannot put an exec in a studio every week
- Course teams that already write scripts
Who should skip it
- Content marketers recutting posts for social (Pictory)
- Agencies selling cinematic ads (Runway / a human)
- Anyone who needed a talking head of a prospect's name (HeyGen)
What matters in the product
Stock and custom avatars
Stock is fine for internal. Custom is why you pay enterprise. Do not use a stock presenter as your public founder.
Translation and variants
The enterprise case. One script, many locales, without re-shooting.
Verdict
The avatar-training default. Buy it when the job is a presenter on a script. Do not buy it because you searched 'best AI video generator' and wanted a blog turned into a Reel.
