The Aiacent take
Replit Agent is the coding seat we would buy when the job is a running app in the browser: a prototype a founder can click, an internal tool that has to live somewhere tonight, a build you will keep on Replit. The teams that like it treat Agent like a pair who also brought the host. The teams that hate it pasted a production monorepo into a repl and wanted Cursor diffs.
We score it 8.0 as the hosted-agent desk, not the AI-native editor. Cursor still wins the repo you already have (8.6). Copilot still wins Tab in the IDE you will not leave (8.2). Claude Code still wins a careful terminal agent (8.1). ChatGPT still wins a stack trace you paste into a tab.

- Core is the same $20 band as Cursor Pro and ChatGPT Plus — for a different surface
- Credits and effort-based Agent billing are public enough that you can set a cap
Cons
- It will not replace an editor you already trust on a real repo
- Effort-based Agent pricing includes Plan mode — a long chat is still a bill
- Not Copilot Tab, not Claude Code in the terminal, not a reason to skip review

- Founders and operators who needed a hosted prototype more than an IDE
- Small teams that will stay in Replit to ship an internal tool
- Builders who already hit Starter's daily Agent wall on work they can name
Who should skip it
- Engineers whose source of truth is already a git repo in Cursor
- People who needed Tab in VS Code or JetBrains (Copilot)
- Anyone who will not read what Agent shipped

Hosting in the same loop
The reason this page exists. A URL someone can click. Not a reason to skip auth, tests, or a human who owns the app.

Core includes $20 toward powerful models; Pro includes $100. Extra usage is a second meter. We will not invent a typical app cost.
Verdict
Buy Replit when the expensive part is a running URL. Buy Cursor when the expensive part is the repo. Do not buy either as Tab.
