For a solo operator with a decent brief, Plus is still the correct first purchase in 2026: drafts, rewrites, outlines, and the ugly first pass on a landing page. The honest 2026 stack is smaller: the spec you will still sound like yourself in, then one seat per bottleneck you can name. If you cannot name the bottleneck, you are not shopping for a stack. You are shopping for a slide that will not survive the next product review.
This is a ladder, not a dump. Free AI tools is the card-was-the-objection version. The writing ranking is the sentence if the leak grew a voice file. Start here
The work. Most 'we need an AI PM stack' tickets are a first-spec ticket with extra procurement. The problem statement, the options, the ugly PRD, the launch note, the email after discovery. Write those down. Date them. Staff the sentence that is allowed to be wrong. Then decide whether the next leak is a pile you cannot paste into one tab, a wiki nobody can ask, or a deck the room has to click.
ChatGPT Free is a real taste. Plus is $20 and will draft the spec. It is not a 200-page-export temperament. It is not a deck. It is not Q&A over the workspace you already have. Stay on the draft until a named leak shows up in a week you will actually ship: the dump is the brief, the spec still lives in a wiki nobody searches, or the review is a file that is not a doc. If none of those are true, another logo will not make Tuesday a quieter inbox. The roadmap is not an AI job. Scope it in the doc you already send.

The leak is an 80-page export, a research folder, a ticket dump, a call transcript, a contract, and you wanted a model that will push back. Pro is the same $20 band as Plus. Add Notion AI when the wiki is already the operating system
The leak is Q&A over specs, meeting notes, and the launch checklist that already live in Notion — not a blank page. Free and Plus include a trial of Notion AI. The honest ongoing Agent / meeting-notes / Enterprise Search seat is Business at $20 a member billed annually (about $24 monthly) on notion.com/pricing, checked 19 September 2026 — the same ladder as Notion AI pricing. The old ~$10 add-on is gone. Comparing '$20 vs ChatGPT Plus $20' is how finance buys the wrong layer: you are buying the wiki plus AI, not a peel-off chatbot.
Skip Notion AI if the spec does not live in Notion. A Business climb will not invent a workspace habit. Skip it if you only needed a frontier tab — that is Plus or Claude. Add Gamma when the file is a deck the room has to click
The leak is the product review, the options slide, the launch readout — a file that is not a spec. Free is a real taste (starter credits; Gamma Help is explicit there is no traditional free trial). Plus is the honest making-decks seat — commonly about $9 a month on the public cards we have used elsewhere (confirm gamma.app/pricing). Pro is brand and export polish after someone will set a theme. Is Gamma worth it and Gamma pricing are those pages. The presentations ranking is the longer table.
Skip Gamma if the leak was the sentence. A better card will not write the problem statement. Skip it if legal will only accept last year's PowerPoint master — that is Plus AI on the presentations ranking. Skip it if Canva is already the file OS.
Add Perplexity only when you are briefing yourself before the review
The leak is a cited first pass on the market, three competitors, or a category claim — sources you will actually click. Pro is $20 a month or $200 a year. Many PMs keep Plus and Pro. That is allowed. Add Cursor, Otter, or a suite only when that job is already the work

What is not a rung
- An 'AI product OS' that promises to find opportunities, write the PRD, and file the tickets. That is a directory.

- The consultant stack as a costume. Memos and retainers are a billed workstream. If the deliverable is a spec and a review, start here, not there.
- Ahrefs or Semrush because a PRD mentioned SEO. Buy the index when SEO is the launch job — is Semrush worth it — not as a PM starter kit.
- Surfer because someone said 'AI SEO' in a growth review. The brief is a writer desk. Semrush vs Surfer if those logos are already in the deck.

A product desk, in one pass

Do not buy Gamma unless a review deck is the deliverable. Do not buy Notion Business until the wiki is already the OS. Player-coach who presents: Plus plus Gamma Free, then Plus on Gamma if Magic-class generation is weekly; Notion Business when Q&A over the workspace is the weekday wall. Stop. Do not buy Beautiful.ai unless five people have to keep a kit. Research-heavy PM: Plus plus Claude, Perplexity if you brief yourself before the review. That is a stack. A slide with twelve product-AI logos is a directory. The writing ranking is the RFP if the sentence grew a voice file. Presentations is the RFP if the canvas is the longer fight. Free AI tools is the RFP if the card is the objection. Notion AI pricing is the RFP if the wiki climb is the only argument.
Verdict
Do not start from a list of logos. Start from a spec someone will still rewrite. Add Plus when Free's cap is the wall. Add Claude when the pile is the brief. Add Notion Business when the wiki is the OS. Add Gamma when the file is a deck. Add Perplexity when the review is the leak. Then read the free-tools ranking if the next seat still has to be $0, the writing ranking if the sentence is the desk, the presentations ranking if the deck is the longer fight, and Notion AI pricing if the only argument is the wiki bill.
