HubSpot vs Salesforce for SMBs (2026): winner by job, not a cheaper-logo trophy
HubSpot wins a smaller team that needed one hub they will actually open. Salesforce wins when the record is already Salesforce and an admin is real. They are not interchangeable, and the $20 vs $25 Starter gap is usually the wrong reason to choose.

HubSpot
8.2/10Best B2B marketing hub
The B2B CRM that added Breeze AI — email as a module, not the product.
HubSpot is not an AI email tool that happens to have a CRM. It is the B2B operating system that added Breeze: content, agents, and a first draft on the contact and the deal. That is why it sits second on the email ranking, ahead of Mailchimp, and why it is a bad Klaviyo alternative for a DTC store.
- Best for
- B2B teams whose marketing email has to sit on the same CRM as the pipeline.
- Skip if
- You are a Shopify brand shopping an ecommerce ESP — that is still Klaviyo.
Why it ranks
- Email, journeys, and reporting on the CRM sales already opens
- Breeze AI drafts, summarizes, and suggests — on records you already trust
- The honest B2B answer when Klaviyo would be the wrong graph
Watch-outs
- You will implement it like a hub, not like a newsletter tool
- Ecommerce lifecycle and SMS still trail Klaviyo
- Easy to buy Marketing Hub because a demo wrote a nicer nurture

Salesforce
8.0/10Best enterprise sales CRM
The enterprise sales CRM — Agentforce sits on the record, not instead of it.
Salesforce is the CRM we would buy when the company already treats the opportunity as the source of truth: leads, accounts, quotes, a forecast a VP will defend, an AppExchange row someone can name. Agentforce, Einstein-era scoring, Slack, Tableau — those sit on the record. They do not invent it. Mixing those up is how an SMB buys Core because a keynote said AI CRM and still needed a pipeline a founder can run.
- Best for
- Teams that already live in Salesforce and will staff an admin — not a first CRM for five people.
- Skip if
- You needed a Free-to-Starter hub a founder can run without a specialist.
Why it ranks
- The record other enterprise tools still argue from — AppExchange, quoting, forecast
- Starter Suite is a real public SMB rung at $25, not a hidden 'call sales' wall
- Agentforce is a named layer on the same objects, not a second CRM costume
Watch-outs
- An admin is part of the product. Five people with no owner will implement folklore
- Core at $195 is not an SMB starter, and Max at $550 is a platform conversation
- Not HubSpot's marketing-plus-CRM habit, not Apollo's list, not Gong's tape

Both products will store a contact and a deal. That is where the overlap ends, and it is why 'HubSpot vs Salesforce' is a bad 2026 question for a small team if you have not named the bottleneck. A founder-led shop that needed marketing and sales in one login they will open on Tuesday, and a company that already staffs a Salesforce admin and quotes from a price book, are different seats. Mixing them up is how you pay Sales Cloud Core for a five-person pipeline — or buy Marketing Hub Professional because a demo wrote a nicer nurture and still needed a simple deal view.
This page is the two-way for smaller teams. Is HubSpot worth it is the Marketing Hub subscription. HubSpot pricing is that plan math. Is Salesforce Agentforce worth it is the agent add-on — a second conversation. The sales ranking is Gong, Clay, Apollo. The marketing ranking is the campaign desk. Read this one if both CRM logos are already in the deck.
The public bills, in one place
HubSpot Free CRM is $0. Sales Hub Starter lists at $20 per seat per month on hubspot.com/products/sales (a $10 first-time offer sat next to list on the page we checked). Sales Hub Professional starts at $100 per seat per month. Sales Hub Enterprise starts at $150 per seat. Marketing Hub is a different SKU: Starter $20 a seat, Professional from $890 a month with three Core Seats and a required $3,000 onboarding — the ladder on HubSpot pricing. Those Sales Hub rows were checked against hubspot.com/products/sales on 19 September 2026. Confirm checkout. We quote list, not the promo.
Salesforce Free Suite is $0. Starter Suite is $25 per user per month, billed monthly or annually. Pro Suite is $100 per user per month (annual on the grid we checked). Sales Cloud Core is $195, Advanced $395, Max $550, billed annually. Agentforce is usually a second meter: Foundations $0, Flex Credits $500 per 100,000, a $125 unmetered employee add-on. Those CRM rows were checked against salesforce.com/editions-pricing/sales-cloud/ on 19 September 2026. Confirm the edition name — Salesforce renames suites. We will not invent a leftover Professional Edition sticker from a 2022 blog.
| If this is the SMB job | Buy | Skip |
|---|---|---|
| A first CRM a founder and a couple of reps will open without a specialist | HubSpot (Free to prove the record; Sales Hub Starter if branding-off and a real send are named) | Salesforce Core as a 'real CRM' costume |
| Marketing email has to sit on the same deal the AE opens | HubSpot — Sales Hub plus Marketing Hub when journeys are the leak. Is HubSpot worth it | Salesforce Starter as a cheaper marketing hub |
| You already live in Salesforce and an admin is a named person | Salesforce (Starter or Pro Suite if the team is still small; Core only when quoting and forecast are the week) | A HubSpot migration so the blog said SMB-friendly |
| Complex quoting, AppExchange, a forecast a VP will defend | Salesforce Pro Suite or Core — staff the admin | HubSpot Starter as a cheaper CPQ |
| A list plus sequences this week, and the CRM is still a spreadsheet | Neither as the sequencer — Apollo. Is Apollo worth it | Either CRM as a prospecting kit |
| Coaching from the tape is the leak | Neither as the recorder — Gong. Is Gong worth it | Either logo as conversation intelligence |
| A nicer nurture draft and nobody will administer a hub | Neither paid row — ChatGPT Plus. Stay on Free CRM if you must keep a record | Either Professional / Core climb as a writing tab |
| An agent on objects you already trust | Salesforce plus Agentforce if the CRM is already Salesforce. HubSpot Breeze if the hub is already HubSpot | A second CRM so the keynote said agents |
Buy HubSpot if the expensive part is one hub a small team will actually open
HubSpot earns the SMB desk when marketing and sales have to share a contact the founder can still find. Free CRM is a real taste. Sales Hub Starter at $20 list is branding-off, meeting links, a light automation layer. Professional at $100 a seat is sequences, call transcription, workflows a manager will keep. That is why the HubSpot review on this site scores 8.2 as the B2B marketing hub — and why this comparison will not pretend that review was a Sales Cloud bake-off. Is HubSpot worth it is the Marketing Hub subscription. HubSpot pricing is the $890 Professional-hub math if journeys are the leak.
Skip HubSpot if the company already lives in Salesforce and the admin is real. A migration 'because we are an SMB now' is how you lose a quarter of reports. Skip it if the leak is a list — Apollo. Skip it if the leak is the tape — Gong. Skip Marketing Hub Professional if you needed Sales Hub Starter and a writing tab.
- Best for: founder-led and small B2B teams whose week is already one login
- Skip if: Salesforce is already the record, or you needed a sequencer / tape / draft
- Honest watch-out: Breeze on empty properties is still folklore. You are buying the hub
Buy Salesforce if the expensive part is a record you will staff
Salesforce earns the 2026 SMB seat only when 'small' still means an admin, a price book, or a forecast someone will defend. Starter Suite at $25 is the public on-ramp — leads, opportunities, light marketing. Pro Suite at $100 is quoting and more automation. Core at $195 is mid-market Sales Cloud, not a five-person starter. That is why we score Salesforce 8.0 as the enterprise sales CRM, not the first hub.
Agentforce is a second ticket. Foundations is $0. Flex Credits and the $125 add-on are for a named action. Is Salesforce Agentforce worth it is that page. Do not buy Core so Agentforce felt included. Max at $550 includes Agentforce for Sales — that is not an SMB ladder.
- Best for: teams already in Salesforce, or SMBs that will hire the admin before the seats
- Skip if: you needed a hub a founder can run, a list this week, or a $20 draft
- Honest watch-out: $25 Starter vs $20 HubSpot Starter is not a strategy. Count the admin
Neither logo if the leak is the list, the tape, or the sentence
Apollo still wins a list plus sequences this week. Clay still wins the waterfall. Gong still wins coaching from the tape. ChatGPT still wins a first draft. The sales ranking is that table. The marketing ranking is the campaign desk around HubSpot. Buying both CRMs so a comparison blog felt complete, then still living in a spreadsheet, is how a small team funds unused objects.
What this comparison is not
- An implementation bake-off. We did not time a five-user rollout or invent a win rate.
- A 2019 'Sales Cloud Professional vs HubSpot CRM' rename. We quote 2026 public suites.
- A coupon hunt. No invented Impact or via= IDs.
- A reason to skip Agentforce or Breeze as named jobs. They sit on the CRM you already chose.
Most SMB 'HubSpot vs Salesforce' tickets are a first-hub ticket or an already-in-Salesforce ticket. The $20 versus $25 Starter sticker is doing too much work. The list and the tape are usually third logos.— Aiacent, 2026
Verdict
HubSpot when the expensive part is one hub a small team will open — Free, then Sales Hub Starter, then Marketing Hub if journeys are the leak (is HubSpot worth it — HubSpot pricing). Salesforce when the expensive part is a record you will staff — Starter or Pro Suite if you are still small, Core only when quoting and forecast are the week. Neither when the leak is the list (Apollo), the tape (Gong), or the sentence (ChatGPT). Then read is Salesforce Agentforce worth it if the agent is the next SKU, the sales ranking if you want GTM scores, and the marketing ranking if the campaign desk grew up.
