In 2026 the download and the pricing page wear the Devin Desktop name — Cognition kept the IDE, put cloud agents on it, and left windsurf.com/pricing as a public plan grid. If you already lived in that keymap, this is the same bones. If you are choosing from zero, you are probably on the Cursor page.

Cursor is the coding tool we would start a greenfield team on in 2026. Forked from VS Code, it stopped pretending the AI is a plugin: Tab, Agent, Cloud Agents, and a repo the model can actually see. The teams that like it treat Cursor like a junior pair who lives in the branch. The teams that hate it installed it on Friday and wanted Copilot's autocomplete on Monday without changing a muscle.

Both products will complete a line and send an agent through a file. That is where the overlap ends, and it is why 'Windsurf vs Cursor' is a bad 2026 question if you have not named the bottleneck. An engineer who already lives in Cascade and will keep that keymap, and an engineer choosing a first AI-native workspace on the repo they already have, are different seats. Mixing them up is how you pay Cursor Pro because a list said the future, or stay on a 2024 Codeium URL because the rename felt like a different product.
Name check, because the URL moved. Windsurf is now sold as Devin Desktop. Windsurf / Devin Free is $0 — light agent quota, limited model availability, unlimited inline edits, unlimited Tab. Pro is $20 a month — frontier models, cloud agents, extra usage at API pricing. Max is $200 a month — significantly higher quotas. Teams is $80 a month for the team plan plus $40 per full-dev seat. Enterprise is a quote. Those rows were checked against windsurf.com/pricing on 19 September 2026. The vendor page says paid allowances refresh daily and weekly. We will not invent a Cascade-message lab.
Cursor Hobby is $0 — limited Agent and Tab, Composer, no card. The Individual card is $20 a month with a Pro / Pro+ / Ultra toggle. Cursor's own page recommends Pro+ for daily agent users and Ultra for power users; the existing buyer guide on this site prices those toggles at $60 and $200 from Cursor's models-and-pricing docs, checked the same day. Teams is $40 a user. Enterprise is a quote. Those rows were checked against cursor.com/pricing on 19 September 2026 — the same ladder as is Cursor worth it. Included usage is a pool.
