Fireflies.ai
The searchable meeting archive that will talk to your CRM.
The Aiacent take
Fireflies is the meeting assistant for teams that will actually search last month. Transcripts, summaries, soundbites, and a CRM write-back. Sales and CS orgs that live in HubSpot recognize it. A founder who needed captions in the room will bounce — that is still Otter.
We ranked it second on the transcription list on purpose. Otter wins live notes. Fireflies wins the archive. Fathom wins the generous free recorder. Notion AI wins 'the notes already have to sit on a wiki page.' Mixing those up is how you buy a second bot and still cannot find the pricing objection.
It is not Gong. Deal intelligence and a coaching culture are a different price and a different operating system. If you stretch Fireflies into that job, you will write a disappointed Slack message in week six.
Fireflies is what we open when the question is 'what did they say in March.' Otter is what we open when the question is 'what are they saying right now.'
Pros
- AskFred across the archive is the feature people keep paying for
- CRM and Slack push is a real workflow, not a slide
- Cheaper than Gong when the job is search and recap, not coaching
Cons
- Another bot in the participant list unless you fight it
- Not live captions the way Otter is
- Credit math on 'AI skills' can surprise a team that thought Pro was unlimited everything
Who it's for
- Sales and CS teams that need a searchable call library
- RevOps that will connect HubSpot or Salesforce on day one
- Distributed teams that miss meetings and have to catch up from the recap
Who should skip it
- People who needed live captions in the room (Otter)
- CROs building a coaching culture (Gong)
- Anyone who refused a bot and wanted device capture (Granola, or Fathom's bot-free beta)
What matters in the product
AskFred on the archive
The product. 'What did they say about price last quarter' beats rereading twelve transcripts. Check the clip anyway.
CRM and Slack
Notes that die in an email are folklore. Fireflies earns the seat when the recap lands on the record.
Soundbites
Useful for enablement clips. Not a reason to skip Gong if coaching is the actual job.
Verdict
The archive-and-CRM notetaker. Buy it when search and write-back are the leak. Skip it when you needed live captions, a free individual recorder, or a revenue-intelligence platform.
