Klaviyo
Email and SMS for ecommerce, now with a serious AI layer.
The Aiacent take
Klaviyo is not 'an AI tool.' It is the ecommerce CRM that added AI in the places that matter: segments, subject lines, product recommendations, and (carefully) content. That is why it leads our ecommerce ranking. The brands making money on owned channels already live here; the AI features are leverage, not the reason the category exists.
If a vendor pitches you an 'AI email tool' for your store and they are not integrating with this customer graph, you are buying a sidequest.
Pros
- Still the default marketing OS for serious ecommerce
- AI helps with segments, content, and predictions — on top of a real platform
- SMS, email, and reviews in one customer graph
Cons
- Bills grow with your success, which feels like a tax
- You can over-message if you turn every AI suggestion on
- B2B / non-commerce CRM use is a stretch
Who it's for
- DTC and ecommerce teams on Shopify, BigCommerce, and similar
- Retention marketers who think in flows, not blasts
Who should skip it
- B2B SaaS — use a product-led lifecycle tool
- Stores that have not fixed their product catalog or tracking
What matters in the product
Flows and segmentation
The product. AI can suggest; your offer and cadence still decide whether you are a brand or an inbox pest.
AI content and predictions
Useful for variants and likely-to-buy audiences. Review everything that sounds like a person wrote it, because customers can tell.
Verdict
The ecommerce marketing platform to beat. Adopt its AI features after the flows are right, not instead of them.
